TO KNOW SHEA WAS TO LOVE HER-
to love her smile, to love her laugh, to love the faith she shared so freely and the light she shined so brightly.
“ I carry you with me into the world, into the smell of rain and the words that dance between people and for me, it will always be this way, walking in the light, remembering being alive together.”
As we must learn to journey apart, that’s what we will do — watch for her light and soak in its warmth. Whether we find it in butterflies flying free, in a bracelet bearing scripture, in a gallery of pictures, in the shade of a soaring tree, or in the beat of a beloved song, we’ll sense Shea’s spark and her glow will go on.
Because we knew her — because we loved her — we’ll walk in the light, carrying her with us into the world she loved so dearly.
SHINE ON, FRIENDS, AND SO SHALL SHE
On January 20, 2016, Shea and Josh sat together as they were told the news of her diagnosis of a rare and aggressive form of cervical cancer, small cell endocrine carcinoma. Only 1% of women with cervical cancer have this kind. Throughout the next seven months and 4 days, Shea shared her journey through this time. Her prayers and intimate details can be read through her blog here. Her story is one of love, pain, heartache, and hope- its a story of her love for God- her trust and faith in him.
We want you to start by reading Shea's blog- reading her story to hear her heart. On her best days, and even on her worst- her faith never wavered. She had a love for God that shined out of her for all to see. This love was contagious- she made us want to grow closer to the Lord and she continues to do so today.
On her last day of chemo she wrote ...
Psalm 103 gives us a confident assurance that there will be an end to all the sickness in this world.
Verses 1–4 says, “Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion.”
Even though in this life there are diseases like cancer, we have hope.
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”
I am trusting you, God. I am.
